What happens to “Inactive” voter records?

Once a voter record becomes Inactive, the voter is no longer mailed Voter Information Guides or ballots. Instead, a series of notices are mailed to Inactive voters in an attempt to update their voter registration, Inactive voters that do not confirm or respond to any of these notices will be cancelled if they fail to vote in the succeeding two federal general elections.
